THE SERIES
CONCEPT
The FIM EBK World Cup will have franchise teams who compete in a global series of city based criterium races. Riders will be competing on advanced technology pedalec e-bikes.
The sporting format will include qualification leading to race grid positions, which will replicate a criterium format, where riders race over a 2.5km – 5km circuit. Each cities circuit will vary in course design, surface and challenges.
The racing will be exciting and impactful throughout the 40 minute race duration. Teams and riders will have to manage their limited electrical energy reserve and find the perfect balance between rider and ebike performance.
Battery power & human performance = jeopardy!
RACING FORMAT
Qualifying time trials decide the top six riders to form an automatic breakaway group at the start of the race.
Race Duration – Each race duration will be between 40 and 60 minutes.
Strategy – Team managers’ strategies will dictate the energy consumption or conservation tactics of individual riders.
Energy recharging is prohibited between qualifying and the start of the race.
Intermediate sprints, eliminations & power zones ensure the racing is animated throughout the duration.
Equality – In the series both male and female races count towards the overall team title.
